Little Dougie Feith, cheerleader for war

Gimme an I, gimme an R, gimme an A, gimme a Q!
What's that spell? WMD! What's that spell? bin Laden! What's that spell? Yellow cake!

Not that any of the news about Feith and his special little office is anything new to those of us that knew about the bullshit leading up to the Iraq war. Hardly.
But prior to 2007 most people in America, however, had never heard of little Dougie (or PNAC for that matter), but at least the latest news has put a face, as it were, on the bullshit leading up to the Iraq war.
There was Dougie in his office with his pom-poms and cherry-picked "intelligence".

It's shocking, though, what kind of world we are living in, circa 2001-2007. Particularly when a President can head an administration that has openly broken the law (FISA), led the country to war on lies (Feith et al), shredded the Constitution, tortured in our name and has an “attorney general” that thinks 800 years of Habeas Corpus is nothing but a joke. The amazing thing about all this is that these people are still walking around free.
Yet Bubba Clinton got it for getting some in the White House.

Now in 2007, they have tried the same thing with Iran, but it's getting a little better in that more than a few people are (in a nice way, unfortunately) calling "bullshit" on the so-called evidence the Iranians are engaged in the fighting in Iraq. Evidence that they are trying to use to run us into a war with them, of course.

It's time to get the fuck out of Iraq, impeach Bush and Cheney (both of whom have officially lost their minds) and via the impeachment proceedings, haul in all as many neo-cons as possible. To an end that would hopefully land a bunch of them in leg-irons.

On a side note, I just got done reading Pat Buchanan's latest rant (he does rant, and I am not saying that as a bad thing) and then went back and read the last couple months worth of his columns. I gotta say, for a "right winger", Pat is starting to sound like the so-called "moonbats" like me who are against the war (among other things).
Christ on a pony, you know the world is upside down when "Go-Pat, Go!" Buchanan starts sounding like a "liberal" in 2007. Read his column on Biden. Good stuff.

Feith stated that in Iraq... we now face a strategic alliance of jihadists and former Baathists… something he envisioned and the CIA had not.

But after four years of war, Iraq has been left wide open for al-Qaeda jihadists to enter. The Sunnis/Baathists and the Shiites are fighting for positions of future control, knowing American troops will eventually leave. One could also assume the only reason the Sunnis/Baathists would fight side by side with al-Qaeda jihadists (with the US taking the Shiites side), is if their country was in total ruin and they had no other choice.

Did Feith’s theory require as absolute colapse of Iraq’s society to work? Is this why the Americans went into Iraq with so few troops to stabilized it? Or maybe they had enough troops, but never planned on protecting the warehouses full of explosives (which they didn’t).
Did Feith want to create chaos in Iraq, so that it would be a magnet for militants? Thus making Iraq a breeding ground for terrorist, knowing the surrounding countries would somehow get involved, and in effect, put the US at odds with every country in Middle East? Except Israel.

I believe our goverment in past years has lead too many investigations into subjects that don’t matter.
Yet, I believe an investigation into Wolfowitz & Co. would be money well spent.

Bush's boys see the enemy everywhere. Wait, isn't that called paranoia?

Buchanan is an old crank on social issues but a very wise man when it comes to the Middle East and our destruction via ever-expanding military adventures.

I'm glad to see Bush getting questioned about why his intelligence on Iran is any more reliable than his "intelligence" on Iraqi WMD and the Saddam/al Qaeda connection. (It happened at a press conference the other day.)

Good column by Robert Scheer (your first link). I used to see his column periodically in the S.F. Chronicle -- great perspectives.

Yea, Scheer is one of the good guys.
And smart as a whip.

JM and Kurt, thanks for stopping by.
Nice to see some newer faces and such.

Thanks to the new House and Senate this President and his Administration will be questioned about alot of things that have went on illegally in the name of the United States.

Douglas Feith, who promoted the bogus facts that Saddam Hussein had a relationship with Al Qaeda is just one (1), of many men this President had in place with the help of Cheney to spread their false claims for war and everything else.

Well, I'm hoping at the least that there is more oversight than before, for sure.
My hope is for jail time for the criminal regime, but I'm not going to hold my breath..

Buchanan has been consistent with his world view. I think he was against the war pretty much from the beginning because he comes from an isolationist point of view, meaning stay away from other countries but also fight illegal immigration. He's forever a xenophobic, racist, elitist conservative, and his fight against immigration is also a fight for racial/cultural purity, but at least he has some kind of ideology he stands by even when it goes against the Republican party line.

Did you see the rundown on Doug Feith that the Daily Show did last week, where they inserted him into a fake clip of NBC's Heroes? It was brilliant. "Fudge the facts... save the world." This guy is unbelievable in his relentless sticking to the untruths he's been spouting for so long. I agree with you 100%.

No, didn't see that, Nikki, but thanks for the heads up.
I'm sure I can find it on the internets this week. :)
