Goodfellas" tops greatest movies list
Mon Oct 24, 9:55 AM ET LONDON (Reuters) - Mobsters in the 1990 film "Goodfellas" have beaten a fear of heights in "Vertigo" and the great white shark of "Jaws" to help the Martin Scorsese film clench the mantle of greatest movie of all time in a survey of UK film experts.
Goodfellas, which featured Ray Liotta, Robert de Niro and an Oscar winning supporting role from Joe Pesci, topped the list of 100 movies in a survey of film critics by Total Film.
"Goodfellas has everything, in terms of its technical brilliance, its huge influence on modern film-making and its spikiness and rewatchability," Total Film features editor Jamie Graham told Reuters.
Awesome.
One of my favorite movies of all time.
In fact, I don't think there is a movie made that has a better first 20 minutes.
Completely fucking brilliant.
Goodfellas has such a great soundtrack, too, which is all music from the period that the movie is supposed to be in at the time of the scene.
In this case, it goes from the 50's into the 70's.
Every shot, all the dialog, the story, everything just moves along and works perfect.
I can see why this would be chosen.
Even if "mobster" movies are not your thing, you should see it for the technical aspect of a movie that is just plain well made.
By the way, they finally fixed the DVD cover so the names matched up with the heads.

You know, it's an excellent DVD for long plane rides between it's length and entertainment value. You just have to be careful when the stewardess comes to ask if you'd like a beverage not to say fuck yeah!
Careful, man, there's a beverage here!
hey, thanks, can i have that burger now?
lmao wtf is up with the spam, yo?
those brits are a little slow. only took 'em 15 yrs to figure out "goodfellas" is a good movie. from imdb -- the f-word is used 246 times in the film
