Summertime means?

Baseball? I guess.
Summercamp? Not for me, and we don't have kids.
Hot girls in bikinis? Well, that's a given.

No, what summer REALLY means is fresh made salsa with stuff from my garden in it.

The tomatoes, fresh peppers and limes come from my garden.
Bought the rest of the stuff.

First, you need to gather all these things, rough chop them (except for the dried chilies) while you warm up a skillet.

Roast the dried chilies in the skillet for a little while, then put them in warm water to soak for 20 minutes.

In that same warm skillet, roast the onion, the garlic, tomatoes and fresh chilies till the skin blackens up a little bit.

NOW you can chop it all up.
Work in pulses till it's all done.

Taste for the possible addition of more salt, pepper or lime juice.

Also, if you like, you could add a dash of cayenne and some cumin.

Time to put it in a storage container and away in the fridge for at LEAST several hours if not overnight.

Enjoy tomorrow with your favorite tortilla chips.

You may click on the photos for larger versions that will open in new windows.

Beer to enjoy with this? Why, a California Pale Ale, of course. Sierra Nevada would be a good one.

That looks really good. Thanks for the recipe.

Looks and sounds delicious. Tragically enough, my reflux tolerates no such ingredients in my diet.

Yeah, I need to start taking something a little stronger. I can't spend the rest of my life without marinara sauce and citrus fruit!

Mark!

Great to see you around.

No, just a little garden, but I got lucky on a couple of the tomato plants and peppers.
