(Jeb) Bush Practices His Flip-Floppin' for '08

In spite of pundits' prognostications that the repukes want to want to offer up Kinda-Sleazy Rice as a presidential candidate in 2008, I'm still thinking they'll just go all dynastic and give brother Jeb his turn on the throne. With that in mind, Gov Jeb gave a speech to extoll the glories and virtues of his genetic heritage - er - political party. Funny thing, though: Jeb said [emphasis mine],

"I wanted to give you a little bit of a sense of what's happened over the past seven years, and even prior to that with Republican leadership because we don't read about it much in the paper," the governor said at the start of his remarks. "If you don't toot your own horn, no one else will."
Okay, you would think that meant he wanted to read about it in the paper, right? He wants them to "toot his horn", as it were? He wants press coverage of "republican leadership"?

Well, as it turns out... no. In true Bush style, Jeb chose to say one thing, then proceed to do the opposite:
The Florida Republican Party on Saturday called security to eject reporters listening to Gov. Jeb Bush tout his party's accomplishments in Tallahassee... The party barred reporters from the ballroom where Bush addressed a luncheon crowd of several hundred, and party staffers then summoned security when they saw reporters listening to the governor through an open door on the side of the room.
So... Jeb Bush, apparently as much of a full-blown loony as his more famous brother and father, says, "Waaaaa! They never pay any attention to us!," followed by, "Eeeeeek! Don't look at me! Don't look at me!"

Don't worry about becoming bored when the madness of king george is but a memory. The other members of the royal family are every bit as deranged.

Scary thought! There's so many of them coming out of the woodwork we progressives have our hands full.

Gee, I wonder why that is.

Good post, Shea. I think it'd be stupid for the GOP to back anything having a remote connection to Bush in '08, but it's just the kind of arrogant "screw you we'll do whatever the hell we want" attitude that we've had to suffer through the last 6 years that would land him on the ticket regardless.
